Classification: 1ÖTW (Premier Cru)
The vineyard site is located on the south-eastern slope of the Heiligenstein mountain. It is one of the warmest sites in this wine-growing region.
The soil is calcareous and loamy, derived from the underlying loess bedrock. Higher parts of the vineyard, towards the Heiligenstein mountain, boast non-calcerous sandstone.
The grapes were biodynamically grown grapes under the Respekt certification. They were harvested in October and subject to whole bunch pressing and fermentation with natural yeasts. Maturation took place in both stainless steel tanks and large oak barrels.
The wine rested on the lees until middle of May prior to bottling at the end of July and release in September 2021.
2020 will go down as a classic Hirsch year, with lively acidity, low alcohol levels and clear, fine fruit, giving pure drinking pleasure.

CRITIC RATINGS
"Good complexity, multilayered... Compellingly persistent, excellent potential." (Peter Moser, Weinguide Österreich 2022/23)97 Falstaff
The wine has great depth and concentration, but never stops being an incredibly fresh and satisfying drink. The acidic structure brings a wonderful elegance and a very long, silky finish with chalky minerality, herbal complexity and tell-tale green pepper and green fruit notes you expect from a high-end Grüner Veltliner.
