A popular favourite from the portfolio. The vineyards for this juicy red wine are based around the towns of Göttlesbrunn and Höflein. The soft loess hillsides and the gravelly loam soils provide the ideal conditions for a fine but characterful Zweigelt.
The grapes are harvested by hand from the middle to the end of September. The wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation on the skins at 30-32 °C, followed by malolactic conversion. The wine is then aged in French oak barriques and large wooden casks.
2020 was an outstanding vintage with a slightly later start to the harvest than in previous years. The grapes were totally healthy when harvested. Wines from this vintage display pure varietal character & attractive body, with plenty of finesse & freshness.

CRITIC RATINGS
91 FalstaffThe nose reveals expressive and concentrated aromas of cherries and dark berries with smoke and sweet spice from the well-judged barrel ageing. The palate is soft and luxurious on the palate, with more dark fruits, sweet spice and a whiff of chocolate on the long finish.
Paris beautifully with game and beef dishes sprinkled with fresh herbs
