The cool vineyards of this far northern winegrowing village of the Südsteiermark are
known for long hang times that produce elegant wines with vegetal aromas, a nimble body and focused acidity.
The grapes were hand-picked in the first two weeks of October. After a maceration time of 18 hours, the grapes were gentle pressed and the juice was racked directly to stainless steel tanks and large oak barrels (30%), where it underwent a slow fermentation by indigenous yeasts. The wine was careful matured in the cellar for twelve months. While the village of Kitzeck-Sausal is predominantly dominated by slate soils, the vines for this wine grow on maritime coral limestone.

CRITIC RATINGS
93 James SucklingThe nose reveals expressive white tropical fruit, with a touch of lychee and guava, with a mineral overtone. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and tense, with chalky minerality and a racy, subtle lime acidity and refreshing salty finish.
Pairs well with a range of fish dishes and shellfish.
