This Welschriesling comes from over 40-year-old vines from the Steinbach site, with an underlying soil of sand and sedimentary rocks. The wine really displays the depth and structure that such vines bring with them.
Lackner Tinnacher have always focused on limiting yields for full flavour concentration. All vineyard work is carried out manually, including harvesting which is exclusively by hand. The wine is then subject to protective wine making with fermentation in stainless steel tanks to protect those lovely primary fruit and floral flavours. The wine is bottled under the vinolok closing system, allowing for the freshness to be retained even more.
ANALYSIS
Alcohol: 13.0% volResidual sugar: Dry
On the nose the wine is full of fresh fruity notes of ripe melon and quince, floral spice notes of fennel and warming notes of nutmeg towards the end. On the palate the wine is really juicy with a hint of light tannin and minerality coming through giving it a really fun texture. Ripe melon and pineapple fruit, again with a sweet spice note, opens up into a long, soft finish.
The wine pairs very well with fish and white meats, including chicken, turkey, and veal.
